Who we are
This notice explains how Makhathini Global (Pty) Ltd, trading as MAKGLOBAL (registration 2023/279886/07), of 11 Lyle Road, Rosebank, Cape Town, handles personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). We are the responsible party for the information described here.
Our Information Officer is Siyanda Makhathini. For any privacy question or request, email info@makglobal.africa.
What we collect and why
1. The free-hours form and booking a call
When you claim the 10 free hours or book a call, we collect your name, email address, phone number (required, so we can confirm the time) and company, the type and size of your firm, your role, how you describe the problem, whether budget is available, and the time you choose. If no time suits, we keep the same details as a call-back request.
Why: to check that we can help, to arrange and hold the call, and to prepare for it. Basis: taking steps at your request before a possible contract.
2. The confidential log
During the 10 free hours you can write down what isn’t working in your firm. We collect your contact details and what you write: the area, a description, rough hours per week, who does the work, the tools involved and how much it hurts. Do not include client names or ID numbers; describe the work, not the people.
The log is encrypted before it is stored and can be read only by the people at MAKGLOBAL assigned to your firm, on a password-protected page. It is never pasted into an AI tool. The notice we send internally says only that a log arrived, not what it says. Within a minute you receive a next-steps email that repeats what you logged, so you have your own record.
Why: to prepare the visit and the assessment you asked for. Basis: taking steps at your request before a possible contract. A mutual NDA covers it once signed.
3. Newsletter sign-up
When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address (required), your first name, company and topic (optional), the time you gave consent and where you signed up, and a keyed one-way hash of your IP address, used only to limit abuse. We never store the raw IP address.
Why: to send you the newsletter you asked for. Basis: your consent. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.
4. Demo pages and our emails
We count views of the demo pages we build, and whether an email we sent was opened. This is recorded against the business the demo or email was made for. We do not store your IP address, device, browser or any cookie for this.
5. Unsubscribe clicks
When you use an unsubscribe link, we record the email address so that we never contact it again.
6. Business outreach
We research businesses using publicly available business contact details (company websites, business directories and professional profiles), and we may contact a business about our services. Every email includes an opt-out, and we stop immediately if you ask.
We use AI services to help draft and personalise messages and demos from public information about the business. We never use AI services on the contents of a confidential log.

We use the following service providers (operators). Some of them store data outside South Africa; we use them under their data protection terms, which provide safeguards for transfers as POPIA section 72 requires.

How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Booking details and confidential logs from firms that do not go ahead are deleted within 12 months; you can ask us to delete them sooner. The one exception: we keep a minimal record of an address on our do-not-contact list, so that we can honour your opt-out.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it;
- ask us to delete it;
- object to us processing it, including for direct marketing;
- withdraw your consent.
Email info@makglobal.africa and we will respond within 30 days.

Security
Confidential logs are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM). Admin pages and endpoints require a secret token, our server sits behind password-protected access with TLS, and access to stored data is limited to the people who need it. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA section 22 requires.
